China Southern Airlines Flight CZ8385, a Poly International charter flight, took off from Guangzhou Baiyun Airport at 1 am on August 22, carrying nearly 100 workers, overseas Chinese and 9 tons of epidemic prevention and production materials to Mauritania. The plane landed at Nouakchott Airport in Mauritania after nearly 16 hours of flying over 17 countries, covering a total route of 13,000 kilometers. As the first direct flight from China to Mauritania, Poly International chartered flights created a history of direct flight between the two countries, demonstrating the responsibility of central enterprises and their confidence and determination to resume work and production in a safe and orderly manner during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Poly International has been closely following the national development strategy of “going global”, by developing regional markets in Southeast Asia, West Asia, Africa and so on. The returning employees will rush to the infrastructure project in Mauritania to provide personnel support for the subsequent mechanical and electrical installation of the project. This project is the first key project in West Africa under Poly International Group’s subsidiary Poly Changda Engineering Co.，Ltd. and it is also an overseas benchmarking project. The Poly people who braved the difficulties this time went to a foreign country with a sense of mission and high morale, and actively participated in the development and implementation of overseas projects.
Since the outbreak of the pandemic, Poly International has actively donated prevention materials to help partners from all sectors of society both home and abroad to fight the pandemic. So far, it has donated a total of 11.379 million masks, and over 18,500 temperature guns, protective clothing, goggles and other pandemic prevention materials to 12 countries. At present, nearly 7,000 cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in Mauritania. The situation is grim.
In order to alleviate the impact of the local pandemic and ensure the smooth progress of safe production, Poly International carried necessary pandemic prevention and anti-pandemic materials for pandemic prevention and control. After the chartered flight arrives in Mauritania, it will also carry 252 overseas Chinese and project personnel back to China.
At present, the global COVID-19 pandemic is still spreading, and Chinese-funded overseas projects are facing severe challenges. In addition to Poly International employees, the chartered flight also carried nearly 70 overseas construction workers and overseas Chinese. Overseas staff from 10 Chinese-funded enterprises will immediately go to their respective jobs once the quarantine period is over to empower the economic and social development of Mauritania.
